Rae and Boot Lagoon

Monday 27th April

8.45pm - Orange Street Music Club
15 Orange Street
Canterbury
Kent
CT1 2JA

Boot Lagoon (Peter Edlin: guitar and vocals, Cameron Dawson: bass guitar, Callum Magill: keyboards, Seth Scott Deuchar: drums) is one of the most exciting bands on the new Canterbury music scene. The creation of four young men from St. Edmunds School in Canterbury, Boot Lagoon’s music responds to the inspiration of the ‘Canterbury scene’ of the 1970s and its bands Caravan and Soft Machine. Yet it takes that sound world and takes it in different directions, inevitably inspired by recent trends in rock music and jazz. Their music is their own. They have already performed at Orange Street twice before, and they are developing their performance opportunities in the area as they look to the future with increasing zeal.

Rae are the type of band you very rarely find today. A band that actually utilises the many genres at their disposal to create their own sound. And an unforgettable sound it is. Members Leonie Evans (Vocals/Guitar), Asha McCarthy (Cello/Vocals), Dan Truen (Drums) and Leon Boyden (Bass) met at Dartington College of Arts in 2006. Here they found the many musical influences from around the world at their fingertips and formed the band ‘Rae’. These influences can be found in all of their music; ranging from North Indian to jazz, from classical to funk, and from folk to rock.

Tickets: £8 FULL, £6 STUDENTS
